3 little valentines.

jonah's first week at home.

In about an hour Jonah will officially be one week old. I remember when Jackson turned a week I cried because "time was going too quickly." Little did I know then just how quickly time flies with our little monsters. And knowing that now along with knowing that Jonah will be my last newborn makes me especially selfish with my time with him.

Unfortunately this week that time together has included way too many visits to the pediatrician. We have gone in daily for blood work and weight checks as his jaundice spiked quite high on Wednesday and so we've been working hard to get it down. Thankfully it is headed in the right direction and so we are hoping today was our last time getting blood drawn and we can say goodbye to the bili blanket.

We have one more week with Dan at home with us and I'm hoping it will be much more relaxing than this week was so we can make the most of our time together as a family of five! He has some intense work scheduling coming up so this really is the last week of relaxation together for awhile.

{catching up} hospital moments.

A few more moments from the hospital with Jonah that I wanted to remember...

three of a kind.

I think it's safe to say Jonah has 2 big, BIG fans...

welcome to the world, jonah daniel

We were so blessed to welcome Jonah Daniel into the world on Friday, February 7 at 6:25pm. our newest little monster weighed 7lbs and 13 ounces and was 20 inches long. He is perfection. Unless you count the whole not sleeping at night thing, but other than that total perfection.

His birth was for the most part safe and smooth, but not without a lot of pain and patience. Because of some epidural complications I ended up going through the entire labor feeling every contraction, but was luckily able to be given a dose right before pushing. I honestly am so happy that I'll never have to go through it all again, he was worth every minute, but pregnancy, labor, recovering... it is all really painful at points and I'll be happy to forget all of those memories and replace them with these... our first hours with Jonah.

a superbowl sunday tradition.

Four years ago, right before kick-off on Superbowl Sunday my water broke with Jackson. Dan and I spent my first hours of labor in the hospital watching Drew Brees and the Saints win Superbowl 2010. We joked about Jonah interrupting the Superbowl once again... which he did, just in a less significant way. All day I had noticed that Jonah was moving around very little which is very unlike him. No matter what I ate or drank or did he still wasn't being active, so late this afternoon I called my doctor and she asked me to come into the hospital to check on Jonah's heartbeat and to monitor his movement. Our little guy turned out to be perfectly healthy, but I found it amusing that they put me in the exact same room in triage where I was with Jackson that day 4 years ago at almost the exactly same time of day... right at kick-off.

{waiting on jonah daniel}

I'm so thankful my good friend Jessie was so sweet and came by yesterday to capture some maternity shots before Jonah arrives later this week. I know I'll treasure these in the years to come as I look back on carrying my first three babies and missing how they were once tucked safely inside where I could feel them moving around and dreaming of all that life would hold for them. I am so blessed.
